The second longest running project of Robert Pollard's next to Guided by Voices, Circus Devils is a psycho nightmare studio project between long-time friend/go-to Pollard approved house-engineer Todd Tobias. Occasionally, Todd Tobias' bother, Tim, receives a guitar credit. An unapologetic, ever expansive canvas for Todd Tobias to instrumentally experiment to the far parameters of insanity, Circus Devils also provides the canvas for plenty of surrealist Pollard beat-poetry and nightmarish rants. Sometimes chilling, sometimes brilliant, occasionally horrendous, Circus Devils is the most fun you can have with infectious malaria in a house of mirrors.
The band, unfortunately, decided to hang up the moniker in 2017 following an impressive 16 year run.
