To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the release of the seminal Bee Thousand, Guided by Voices released this 2 song single only available through their website. Side A contains a rerecorded "I Am a Scientist" while Side B contains a rerecorded "Tractor Rape Chain." Both songs are given a sonic bolstering by the new line-up along with Travis Harrison's engineering. A great representation of how these songs sounded live during the epic live run of Pollard, Gillard, Bare, Shue, and March!

I Am a Scientist [30th Anniversary Version]- 5  I mean, what more do you need? Sounds fantastic! One that already got the recorded treatment for the 7" EP back in the day, this version is best with speakers cranked, kick drum knocking you in the chest as you listen. Exceptional vocals. If you needed this song with a hi-fi boost, with the best lineup this band's had to offer, you can't go wrong. 

SIDE B:

Tractor Rape Chain [30th Anniversary Version]- 5  Hey, did you know this song is great? Want to hear it with the new lineup? Great! This is for you. If you don't, don't even worry about it. It's still a homerun on Bee Thousand, so don't even waste your tears. This version contains the "on the tractor rape chain" vocal walkdown that's become a staple of the live version for decades.
